Hesselberg, Erik

Kon-Tiki og Jeg - Oslo: Bok og Bilde-Dreyer, 1949. - 75 p. ; 30 cm.

A beautifully illustrated account of the Kon Tiki voyage by Erik Hesselberg, the navigator, who is also a very talented sketch artist. His line drawings describe the voyage in a lovely quirky way, while the light account given in words is entirely hand written giving the effect of a big, beautiful diary (and sometimes showing a silly sense of humour). I'd recommend reading this after and in support of Thor Heyerdahl's far longer and more detailed account of the Kon Tiki adventure. This is a beautiful companion book. (Hopefully any modern reprints keep the large format of this 1950 edition.)
